The Aquatics Dept in all of the VB Rec Centers have open enrollment right now for something more competitive for ages if your children already know how to swim. It is called "Winter League" and the individual rec centers compete against each other in swimming events. I have been involved in this for several years with my children and recommend.

Also the cost is dirt cheap for the amount of instructions they get Nov - Jan. I provided some pics of the pool tables, ping pong tables and climbing area. There is also air hockey and a basketball game like they have at Chuck E Cheese. This area never seems to busy to me and I have been told by the staff that it is definitely under utilized which is a surprise.

The gym is a full court basketball court and is also has multi uses. At times they will pull a curtain and have BB on one side and another activity. The lobby area sports a ping pong table and small library. The ping pong table is open to all.

The books can be taken by the honor system, so enjoy taking one home and bring it back and if you want to donate others feel free to drop off at front desk. The center also offers an after school program, we have never used it but know through neighbors it is a hit. There are lots of other programs offered by the VB Rec Center System, but what I did was shed light on ones that I was most familiar with. Like I said before, our family could not imagine a life without this wonderful facility in our area.

If I could give it a zero star I would. My grandson usually goes to Williams Farm Rec center to play basket ball. Since Williams Farm was close for maintenance, he and his friend were dropped of at Bayside by his friends mother. When my daughter went to pick him up she went to Williams Farm instead of Bayside thus making her about 10 minutes late. The employee upon closing told these 2 15 year that they could not wait in front to be picked up and if their ride was not there in 5 minutes he would call the police.

They then left walking about a block away to wait. Whether this is policy or racially motivated, it is not acceptable. Will never use this facility again as it is quite obvious that our youth is not valued here. Love the Rec centers. For the price they are a bargain. Went today and played racquetball. If you live closer to another one of the larger, better centers you mind find it worth the membership. But if you can scape up money in your budget, go for a regular gym! The new locker room for handicap access was just completed over the Summer. It has restrooms, showers and lockers. The center also offers an after school program and newer in house daycare. The Staff is friendly and just a great place for kids to hang out with plenty to do. This is a very good rec center. No I do not have a recreation pass, but now I am thinking about. My dad and I went to a church service today Every Sunday 11AM, come join us and we were very surprised on the room they had reserved.

It was a nice size, with a counter, and a sink for easy clean up. After we had service we walked around and were amazed about what was offered. The basketball court, swimming pool, classes, and much more. The price of membership was not bad for the annual fee. Guess who might cancel and get a membership? I would want it stay open later. Getting into the rec center parking lot is easy but shares connecting roads with the library next door.

So getting out of the rec center can be tricky now that Nimmo Parkway connects from General Booth and Holland Road causing more traffic on the road. I imagine this has also led to more people frequenting the rec center because they have easier access now.
